These areas can be particularly challenging as manual removal is often difficult and can disturb the surrounding structure. Once my garden has been weeded, is that the end of the problem?
Unfortunately, no. Weeds will always come back and the trick is to stay on top of the situation before it gets out of hand again. Once your garden has been weeded, its recommended to get a regular garden maintenance schedule organised.
Can't I just spray the weeds?
Spraying definitely has its place in the garden maintenance schedule and is a great option for areas that are hard to access such as in between bricks and pavers, or along fence lines. However, it is always a better option to hand weed in garden borders as spraying can damage the soil and surrounding plants.
Can anything productive be done with weeds?
Yes, weeds can be turned into a liquid fertiliser by soaking them in water for two to three weeks. It’s best to do this as far away from the house as possible, as the process can be a bit smelly. Once the weeds have been soaked, the liquid can be diluted with water and be used as a fertiliser and the weeds themselves can be added to your compost.
How long after spraying can I let my kids/pets into the garden?
The safety of your family and pets is important to us. We’ll let you know the specific waiting time after spraying, which depends on the product, but as a general rule, it’s best to keep everyone off the treated area for at least 24 hours.
